About his Family Life . . .

 Franz Kafka was born July 3, 1883 in Prague, Bohemia, 

today known as the Czech Republic. His family consisted of eight 

members including himself, they were a middle-class German- 

speaking Jewish family. Kafka was the eldest out of his six siblings 

two of which were his younger brothers who died as infants. The 

rest of his siblings were his three sisters Gabriele, Valerie, and 

Ottla whom all suffered death in concentration camps. He had both 

of his parents in his life Herman Kafka, was his father who was 

said to be aggressive towards him. His father had a bad temper, 

and was not supportive of Kafka's love of literature.  Kafka's 

mother's name was Julie she was well educated, but weak when it 

came to protecting Kafka from his aggressive father. Kafka's 

family life played a crucial part on how he saw himself as he grew 

up along with influencing how he wrote.

   Love Life . . .  

When it came to Kafka's love life his first love 

was Felice Bauer. Kafka and Bauer met in 1912 

and had a long distance relationship because she 

lived in Berlin. There relationship was serious, 

they had gotten engaged twice through out their relationship. It 

was not until 1917, Kafka and Bauer had ended their five year 

relationship. After the ending of his first relationship Kafka 

developed an intense connection with a journalist named Milena 

Jesenská that did not last that long. Another relationship Kafka had 

developed was with Dora Diamant, she was a 25 year old Jewish 

orthodox kindergarten teacher. Kafka's relationship with Dora is 

what peaked his interest in the Talmud which is a jewish law book.

Education . . . 

Kafka was well educated and attended school all 

of his life. When Kafka was a child he attended a 

boy elementary school in Prague. When 

Kafka got older he was sent by his 

father to attend German schools instead of Czech schools so Kafka 

could have a social advancement. In his school life he took classes 

for learning Latin, Greek and history. After Kafka had completed 

secondary school he went on to attend college at the Charles 

Ferdinand University. Here he studied law and became acquainted 

with his two close friends Max Brod and journalist Felix Weltsch. 

On June 18, 1906 Kafka completed college gaining a Doctorates in 

Law  and completed his year of unpaid services to a law clerk for 

criminal courts.

Kafka's Health....

When it came down to Kafka's health he ran 

into many misfortunes. It was in 1917, when 

Kafka began to developed and suffer from 

Tuberculosis. Due to this Kafka was required to 

be taken care of by his family, but his sister 

Ottla was the one who took the most care of 

him. However, tuberculosis was not the only health issue Kafka 

had dealt with. Kafka was said to have been clinically depressed, 

and suffered with social anxiety his entire life. Franz Kafka also 

suffered from insomnia, frequent migraines, boils, and constipation 

all due to the excessive amount of stresses and strains he has dealt 

with. However, with all of these health issues it was the 

tuberculosis that was his big threat. When the tuberculosis 

worsened he went back home to Prague to receive treatment and 

unfortunately died on June 3, 1924 at the age of 41. Today his 

remains are still located in Prague's New Jewish Cemetery in 

Olsanske buried next to his parents.
